Chichen Itza- Mayan Ruins

THE CASTLE OF KUKULCAN--Built between 650 and 800 a.c., it rises up 30 meters. It's measurements represent the Maya Solar Calendar. 91 steps on 4 sides to equal 364 plus the main platform to make 365 days in the year. The five adornments on each side of the temple are 5x4 equaling 20, the number of days in a maya month. During the equinox, the god Kukulcan, "The feathered serpent",  descends the temple in a display of light and shadow.
